Below are a few examples of my professional work. My portfolio is only a small demonstration of the services I am able to offer. Use the contact form for more infomation.

Animations and Self-Paced Learning

One of my design goals lately was to improve my use of animations and motion in learning modules. Movement can certainly make text-heavy instruction more palatable, but does not often allow for quick repetition of missed information. This demo addresses this shortcoming by enabling the user to repeat individual pieces of information without replaying the entire slide. Its worth noting that the audio used in this demo was screen-captured from a previous iteration of the training, hence the poor quality. The updated narration was still being scripted when I created this module.

Interaction by any means.

The following are some examples of what I came up with when tasked with injecting some interaction into some very technical training. In order to encourage constant user engagement, I created two prototypes. One utilizes a dial to move through tabs and the other uses a slider. I am a particular fan of sliders in Storyline 360 and I seem to be in the minorty. It is worth noting that both modules have the tab changes tied to a mouse-click on the number, in case a user does not understand how to proceed. This is a trick I picked up following user testing of my academic work.

(Mostly) Practical uses for Sliders.

This module started as a practical application for sliders in self-paced learning. The slider is used similar to the demostration above, however, the slider also locks when narration is playing. While I generally believe removing control from learners is not desirable, I believe it works well in cases similar to this. Learners have an opportunity to review information at their own pace after being exposed to it at a pre-determined pace. This module is also a victim of screen-captured narration, please excuse the quality.

During my master’s, I was fortunate enough to be producing around one finished project every week, divided pretty evenly between Captivate and Storyline. Unfortunately, due to how these courses were hosted, I no longer have access to most of them. However, I have a brief write-up on some of my favorite graduate projects available on my graduate portfolio linked below (100% coded by yours truly as another grad project).
